Empowering Youth

Inspiring Potential through Mentoring

Youth today face many challenges and distractions at school, at home, and in their neighborhoods. They often lack the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary for success in school and in jobs.  It is easy for them to fall into a life filled with negative influences.

But when children and teens are inspired and encouraged by a caring adult – a mentor – they are more likely to avoid risky behaviors. When their potential is recognized and defended, they can focus on making positive life choices. A Big Brother or Big Sister, who is also their champion, is that special person who will help them navigate challenges and become their best self.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida helps to build the capacity of one-to-one mentoring programs that are evidence based, with proven results. They offer young people positive and life-affirming choices.

Children and youth must have the opportunity to build deep and engaging relationships with trusted adults so that they see a different path, a new future that they may never have been exposed to before.
